History Of Insomnia – Some Not Very Known Things About Insomnia

Lots and lots of people heard and not only once of a problem called insomnia, that seems to be in the life of many of us. This word elucidate the state of simply not being able to sleep due to lots of causes like stress, sleep diseases, and many others. The history of insomnia officially began in 1623 when the word insomnia was put in the dictionary, and it was composed of the word in that means not and somnus which meant sleep. So, as you might expected, even back then insomnia meant no sleep.

Many individuals believe that the problem and the term insomnia is quite recently, but this is actually not true, because this word dates back to the beginning of 1600. In the year 1623, this term was first introduced officially to the world, but we will never know the year when it appeared as a concept in the minds of people. Insomnia could be one of the first sleeping problems that people had in their long history. Nevertheless, who can actually tell how long has this word been around and how long have people suffered from this affection?

And do not think that insomnia has only been active in the lives of ordinary people, because because it hasn't. There are many people, well known people, people that changed history, that suffered from insomnia. You'll be astonished by all the names that are present on the list of famous people that suffered from insomnia. This particular list is quite long but we'll only remind a couple of the famous people that had to deal with insomnia.

In conclusion, insomnia is for some time in the lives of regular people and also famous ones. No one knows exactly when this disorder appeared for the first time, but we know this for sure: insomnia exists from the early stages of mankind and no one guaranties that we shall get rid of it very soon. As you can easily see, there is no truth in the affirmations that insomnia is a modern problem for us, as it has been active for at least 400 years.
