Probably the most important thing to realize is that we will not get your dream car for so little money. But the up side is that you can get a great car for $1000 but you have to deal with certain facts before you do.

* The cars you will look for are probably between 10-15 years old. If you are buying your car in rust areas than age is a very important thing. If you life in a sunbelt area than older cars are more likely to be a good bet because they have experienced less smog and are therefore easier to repair.

* You have to take the integrity above the looks of the car. Most cars will have bad paint or they might have dents on it but the integrity is far more important.

* You want to look for less popular models. This is very important to keep in mind, you will be able to get better less desired models in appropriate state compared to very desired models. The only way you will get a desired model for $1000 is when it is trashed.

* The first place you should look at is in your own neighborhood. When people want to sell their car they will often put signs on it with their phone number. Try to find an older cheap car and see if you can get it for the money you want to spend. You can find these cars in driveways or in front or repair shops. * Let your friends know that you are looking for a car. Sometimes a sociable network is the best way to find yourself a cheap car.

* Look for advertisements in your local newspaper.

If you want a really inexpensive car than this is the way to do it but you will not get a test drive and you are not allowed to inspect the car. There is always a chance that you will buy a piece of metal trash

* New And Used Car Dealers: In most cases this is not a good place to look for new cars as you will get nothing for $1000. But sometimes they will have cars they want to send to an auction and maybe they want to sell it to you instead. This will save them a few hundred bucks and you will have a cheap car.
