Ways to Prevent Identity Theft Online
With the unstoppable growth of the online community, companies and clients cannot ignore taking advantage of getting their transaction done online. Since companies cannot ignore making financial transactions online, criminals also cannot ignore making money online. In an online transaction there will always be a client and an agency. The agency is more or less well protected when it comes to their database. This is because they have the money to hire the professionals that can protect their data from hackers, but not all clients can do the same, thus the client, which may include you, is the more vulnerable party among the two, criminals will be more likely to target you by stealing your identity, so you should learn many ways to prevent identity theft online.
There are many ways to prevent identity theft online. One is by ensuring that the company that you are having your transaction with is using Secure SSL Technology. This is to keep your personal data safe from external access aside from the company itself. After ensuring that only the company has access to your personal information, it is then time for you to do the safekeeping yourself.
Always use different passwords for different accounts. If you have a foreign exchange account online, use different password. You should also use a different account password for your stock market account online.
Never use the same password that you use on your facebook and twitter, since they are most likely the ones that you frequently type and you’ll never know when a keylogger gets into your computer.
You may also use different usernames and if you can, you should also use different e-mail addresses for different cases. Like for example, use your regular e-mail for your Twitter and Facebook and use another e-mail with a more complicated password for your online accounts that involve money.
Make your passwords as complex as possible and memorize them as soon as possible. Do not make use of words that are easily memorable lest you type them on the wrong field, and that could spell great disaster for you.
